Travels and Adventures in Southern Africa
George Thompson, 1827
Summary
Merchant George Thompson spent several years in southern Africa in the 1820s, travelling extensively beyond the colonial frontier. His account provides some of the earliest detailed descriptions of Griqua communities, San groups in the northern Cape, and conditions on the eastern frontier. A valuable bridge between the earliest Cape travel writers and the missionary era.
